COMMAND POLICY STATEMENT NO. 9
MEMORANDUM FOR: SEE DISTRIBUTION
Subject: Javits-Wagner-O'Day Program
It is my policy as the Commander of the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia
(DSCP) to proactively support the Javits-Wagner-O'Day (JWOD) Program
by developing business opportunities and initiatives that are consistent
in meeting DSCP's customer needs, and which also provide meaningful
employment and training opportunities for individuals who are blind
or have other severe disabilities.
The DSCP team has always prided itself as the DLA leader in promoting
the advancement of the JWOD Program. While we embrace changes in
acquisition strategies and adopt commercial business practices,
our challenge is to continue and expand our partnership with the
JWOD program. We must work together to develop business solutions
that provides our customers high quality products and services and
recognizes the importance of JWOD affiliates in our industrial base.
Therefore, I urge all members of the DSCP family to commit to furthering
our partnership by considering JWOD participation in all acquisition
programs. With your leadership in this area, we can contribute to
the success of this worthy endeavor.
Command Policy Statement No. 9, dated April 9, 2001, is hereby
superseded.
