Environmental Education and Awareness
The JWOD Program has made environmental education and awareness
about the requirements of Executive Order 13101 part of its educational
mission. Through training, exhibits, and effective labeling, JWOD
relates the core issues of EO 13101 to its Federal customers.
Training
Besides including the requirements of EO13101 in training materials
presented to Federal Purchase Card holders, JWOD continues to work
with the EPA and DOI in developing "Green Guidance" and training
for JWOD-associated nonprofit agencies. "How to Green Products"
training has already been presented to various NIB and NISH agency
representatives. A "How to Green" training program for custodial
services is also in the works for nonprofit agencies that perform
building cleaning/maintenance services.
"Greening Your Products" training available
in both Microsoft
Word and Adobe
pdf formats.
Exhibits and Conferences
The JWOD Program also regularly appears at Federal "buy recycled"
and other affirmative procurement educational training sessions.
In addition, JWOD representatives also attend environmental conferences,
such as the annual National Recycling Coalition, to promote JWOD
environmental products and services.
The
JWOD Environmental ("Green") Logo
The JWOD Program makes it easy for its Federal customers to identify
green products with its new environmental logo. To the highest degree
possible, JWOD products carrying this logo in print and online catalogs
comply with the environmental attribute requirements spelled out
in EO 13101. On JWOD.com, an Environmental Storefront makes it even
easier to identify your favorite JWOD green products.
Adherence to Federal Trade Commission Guidelines
The JWOD Program continues to work with associated nonprofit agencies
to identify and label the environmental attributes of its products
according to FTC Guidelines for the Use of Environmental Marketing
Claims, and to include such information in print and electronic
catalogs, on promotional brochures and other marketing material,
as well as on product packaging containers.
