2002 JWOD Outstanding Contributions Award Recipients
Dennis
K. Alverson
Director of Contract Operations
20th Contracting Squadron
Shaw AFB, South Carolina
Mr. Alverson has been an outstanding supporter of the JWOD Program
in his efforts to provide service opportunities for people with
severe disabilities and by encouraging purchase card holders to
support Shaw AFB's Base Supply Center, HAZMAT Center and Individual
Equipment Element. But, he has also taken his support one step further
by creating an annual JWOD Appreciation Day to recognize the achievements
of the JWOD Program throughout the Command. On this special day,
JWOD employees are invited to a picnic lunch where awards are presented
and all are recognized by the Commander for their hard work.
Kathy
C. Harvey
Directorate of Contracting
Anniston Army Depot
Anniston, AL
Ms. Kathy Harvey is the Directorate of Contracting at the Anniston
Army Depot. As a result of the efforts of Ms. Harvey and her staff,
the JWOD Program obtained their first contracts at Anniston Army
Depot for laundry and janitorial services. These contracts have
had a great impact on the lives of 45 individuals with severe disabilities,
allowing them to be financially independent, while providing Anniston
Army Depot with the services it needs to meet its important mission.
Ron
Fry
Director
Galley and Uniform Issue
Naval Training Center
Great Lakes, IL
Mr. Fry is the Director for Galley and Uniform Issue at the Great
Lakes Naval Training Center. As a result of his efforts there, nearly
two hundred individuals with severe disabilities are employed on
the largest food service project under the JWOD Program. His leadership
also inspired the Navy/JWOD food service team to reach the impressive
goal of earning Capt. Edward F. Ney accreditation-with two Galleys
earning 5 Stars and one Galley earning 4 Stars. And, because of
the food service contract's success, opportunities have increased
for additional JWOD contracts throughout the base.
