Memorandum of Understanding Gives Nonprofits New Tool to Strengthen Business Relationships With SSA, Encourages Greater Awareness of Ticket to Work Program

On April 10, 2002 Committee Executive Director Lee Wilson signed a Memorandum of Understanding designed to strengthen the Javits-Wagner-O'Day (JWOD) Program's partnership with the Social Security Administration. The document is also signed by SSA's new Commissioner, Jo Anne Barnhart, who was represented at the meeting by Associate Commissioner for SSA's Office of Employment Support Programs, Ken McGill.

Richard Holcombe, USDA, Receives "Alley" Career Achievement Award from Javits-Wagner-O'Day (JWOD) Program

Richard Holcombe, Procurement Analyst, U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Procurement Policy Division, has been selected by the Javits-Wagner-O'Day (JWOD) Program to receive the prestigious E. R. "Dick" Alley Career Achievement Award. Established in 1998 by the Committee for Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled, the Federal agency that administers the JWOD Program, the Alley Award recognizes an individual for extraordinary achievement and consistent effort in utilizing the Federal procurement system to create employment opportunities for people who are blind or have other severe disabilities under the JWOD Program. The Alley Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Committee.

Defense Acquisition University Signs Memorandum of Agreement with Committee for Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled

In an effort to provide state-of-the-art online education and training to the Defense acquisition community while maximizing Federal agency awareness of products and services provided by people who are blind or have other severe disabilities under the Javits-Wagner-O'Day (JWOD) Act, the Defense Acquisition University (DAU), signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) today with the Committee for Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled, the Federal agency that administers the JWOD Program. Signatories of the Agreement were Rita Wells, Ph.D., Deputy Executive Director of the Committee staff, and Frank J. Anderson, Jr., President, DAU.
